Secrets of a Successful Email Marketing Campaign

Effective online marketing method

"Make your email marketing a profitable one"

Let me share with you some secrets of a successful email marketing campaign that will make your online marketing a profitable one.

1. Personalize your marketing mails to your clients

Greet and address your recipients individually and personally with their name. This makes them feel more like themselves and will likely lead them to read your message, possibly risking a click or two.

2. Avoid using $ signs in your email marketing campaign

Most spam mails contain "$" signs in their subject or body. And people hate spams so much that most have anti-spam tool filters at their email program or even in their perceptive mind. It automatically move anything with “$” to the trash. That is why you should avoid it in your email marketing campaigns like a plague.

3. No email marketing during holidays

Email marketing is often not effective during holidays. Why? Holidays are days of fun and relaxation for people. They tend to stay away from their computers and not check on their emails, just letting it pile up. After the holidays, chances are all emails, save the most important messages, will be junked almost immediately.

4. Avoid requiring clients to retype their mistyped addresses

Consider treating email addresses like passwords. Require users to type their email addresses twice to reduce errors. Although, this makes the sign-up process a bit more cumbersome for the user and may result in less new subscribers.

5. Ensure to create a clear call to action in your e-mail marketing campaign

Some marketing messages are wonderfully made and a joy to read, except … it is not clear what the sender wants his recipients to do nor what the clients can expect from the sender in return. Make sure to make clear your call to action to all your clients in your email marketing campaign.

6. Never forget the preview pane in your campaign

Move the boring stuff down the page, and greet recipients with your best offer instead. The preview pane should be filled with the unique selling point of your campaign, with your most intriguing benefit or your best offer instead.

7. Emphasize with words, not exclamation marks in your email

If we want to emphasize something or express urgency, we do it with words not exclamation marks. But if you feel the need to use an exclamation point, reread and reword the sentence (or the whole paragraph) to make the words, the rhythm and the sentence structure develop their own urgency and importance.

8. If you use sound in your email marketing, make sure it rocks

Sound is such an effective medium in email advertising that it shouldn’t be ignored. Sounds, and music have a huge impact on people's moods. If you combine flashing email marketing with powerful sound, the effect will be unbeatable. But no audio is a lot better than bad audio, but... audio that rocks can boost your email marketing campaign.

9. Successful email marketing is 1 to 1 permission marketing

The email’s strength is personalization. And a truly successful email marketing consists of personalized messages being sent to customers individually. It takes into account all the customer's interests and will only be possible if you know a lot about him/her. In order to find out all this, and to enter and continue the dialog at all, you will need their consent. And if you get their attention and get it right … you will eventually get their money. This is permission marketing.

10. Test the layout of your marketing message with email clients

Make sure your email marketing message looks good not only in your email program, but in your recipients as well. Whenever you make a change to your newsletter template, test it. The smallest changes can have the most surprising effects.

11. Test the links in your email marketing messages

If recipients cannot click through to your site from your email marketing message, all other efforts will be in vain. So, make sure the links in your email marketing campaigns actually works. Test them routinely and religiously, test them again, and let somebody else test them too.

12. Use bold face for emphasis in email marketing

Make important text stand out in your marketing efforts by using bold face. Italics, the way to emphasize in printed text does not work as well on a computer screen, and underlined text looks bad and is hard to read, on-line or off. Additionally, click able links are traditionally underlined, and non-click able underlined text may confuse some readers. That's why you should use bold to emphasize.

13. Use your name in the From: line

People do not like to read mails from strangers or robots, anonymous email addresses for that matter. But messages coming from a name they know and trust are welcome. That is why using your name in the From: field is a must in all email marketing messages that you send.

While email marketing is a powerful online marketing method, it can be easily abused. Although you may find it easy to use, it is actually difficult and a tricky matter. Hope these secrets of a successful email marketing campaign will be a big help.
